Something you learn while venturing across Iceland during May each year is that the one thing you can count on seeing is sheep. Everywhere. All over the damn place. They were fluffy. It was awesome. We continued onward in attempts of getting to Þórsmörk by ends day, putting our 4 wheel drive car to use. Unfortunately, our car wasn’t quite extreme enough to get us all the way there: the last river was had to cross was, well, a little out of our reach. The journey though, was amazing.

Iceland in May isn’t quite the right time for a full midnight sun, but when “sunset” is at 11pm and “sunrise” is at 3am, the sun really doesn’t fully set. Unfortunately, this means you don’t get true sunsets and you really don’t have a good chance to see the northern lights, so when we actually had a decent sunset it was worth remembering.
