Unfortunately we woke to slight wind and rain and had to pack up without being fully dry, again. As always, we stopped to grab some coffee and hotdogs before getting on the road for a long day of driving. We wanted to makeup time in the snow covered north by powering through and getting out towards the West Fjords to spend more time. We didn’t stop much this day, just to see one quick waterfall, an out of the way town we decided not to stay at, and a restaurant with unlimited lamb soup.
We didn’t spend much time here, but it was our only waterfall of the day. It was a pretty impressive waterfall, if you looked past the pretty mud brown water.
It seemed to be a staple here to build houses, churches, farms, etc sporadically and randomly on remote pieces of land with nothing around for miles.
As it got to be later in the day, we began to look for a place to setup camp, and set our eyes on Reykhólar, a small village on the south end of a fjord. We made our way through the village looking for the supposed campsite, only to find it off to the site of the city next to a run down swimming pool. It wasn’t exactly the most welcoming of places. It was getting late, but we decided to push on to the next place in hopes of something better. Made possible by the never setting sun.
