Even though there wasn’t as much to do, driving through the west fjords had some of the most stunning landscapes and scenery in the entire country. The road wound us out and back on almost every fjord, giving you a glimpse of each one from almost every angle. After getting back on the road, our first stop was cutting north towards Dynjandi, a beautiful waterfall before continuing onward to visit the bird cliffs out in the west.

The bridal falls, consisting of multiple waterfalls as you traverse to the top, really making an astounding effect.
Even though we were there to see the falls, in my opinion, the view looking out away from the falls was even better.
The ride from Dynjandi to our next destination took us through the midland of Vestfirðir, giving us a glimpse of their remote towns, fish farming, beached boats, and more ice covered mountain tops.
Látrabjarg Cliffs are Iceland’s western most point and home to millions of birds. The shear number of birds present was impressive, but the green-blue water of the ocean was the most awe-inspiring part of the area for me. It was a long drive out to the cliffs, but well worth it.
After the cliffs, we started making our way out of the Westfjords, but not without stopping yet again at Hótel Flókalundur for some of the most delicious lamb soup we’ve ever had.
