(Begin with Day 1 if you are just starting)
Our final stretch. Three of us fly out the following morning, leaving a few behind. Packing and repacking our bags for the flight, we made it out of the house exactly at noon. Making our way back towards the capital to stay our final night in a hostel and revisit the city. Flea Markets, Churches, Coffee, Hostels, Hot Dogs, and one relaxing dip in the Blue Lagoon to send us off.
We had explored most of the city before, but with new people in our group, we added a few new stops as we toured them around. Naturally, we were driven to find the original hot dog stand and have one last round. They were delicious. The pics don’t do them justice. If you’re there, definitely get them.

They have a a random pair of headphones coming out of the wall hung up by a hook. They play elevator music all day long. It’s a hostel, of course they do. Quick, take another hipster pic of me!
Where they let you take handfuls of face cream to lather your entire body, but charge you $100 for a teaspoon of it on the way out from the gift shop. Some people take it way too far and cover their entire upper half. Panda Panda Panda. The Blue Lagoon was by far the most touristy thing we did the entire trip. Being near the international airport, they would get guests swinging by on their extended layovers, guests who would empty their pockets for a nice relaxing spa treatment. I enjoyed it, but think its completely overrated, especially when a few nights back we were relaxing in our own private hot springs with a bottle of wine and good company. Can’t put a price on that.
I would say we did a pretty good job of seeing most of the country. A little extra time in the West Fjords would have been nice, but too much snow hindered that adventure.
So far, one of the best trips to date. Iceland had it all and more. Great people, spectacular views, and a large amount of boxed wine will make any trip one to remember.
Days 14 & 15 <——> The next adventure coming soon.
